The District of Columbia Board of Nursing provides the following guidelines regarding the continuing education requirements for nursing professions in DC.
Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses

LVN/LPNs are required to complete 18 contact hours of continuing education every two years.

2 of the 18 contact hours must be on LGBTQ topics or cultural awareness

3 of the 18 contact hours must be on Public Health topics listed here

Registered Nurses

RNs are required to complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every two years.

2 of the 24 contact hours must be on LGBTQ topics

3 of the 24 contact hours must be on Public Health topics listed here

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

APRNs are required to complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every two years.

15 of the 24 contact hours must be on pharmacology related to specialty

2 of the 24 contact hours must be on LGBTQ topics o

3 of the 24 contact hours must be on Public Health topics listed here

Additionally, LPNs, RNs and APRNs must ensure that 10% of their continuing education is on relevant public health topics that are listed here. The Licensing Board shall disseminate the identified subjects to its licensees during the renewal period.
