What are Georgia's State CE Requirements?

Licensed Practical Nurses

• LPNs are required to complete 2 hours of child abuse recognition and reporting continuing education every 2 years.

Registered Nurses

• RNs are required to complete 30 contact hours of Continuing Education every 2 years.
  
  • 2 of the 30 contact hours must be on child abuse recognition and reporting
  • Beginning May 1, 2026, all RNs must complete 2 hours of organ donation education one time within 5 years

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners

• CRNPs and CNSs must complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years.
  
  • 2 of the 30 hours must be on child abuse recognition and reporting.
  • 2 of the 30 hours must be on pain management and identification of addiction
  • 2 of the 30 hours must be in the practice of prescribing or dispensing opioids.
  • 16 of the 30 contact hours must be on pharmacology for those with prescriptive authority
  • Beginning May 1, 2026, all healthcare providers must complete 2 hours of organ donation and tissue recovery education one time within 5 years.
