The Indiana Board of Nursing provides the following guidelines regarding the continuing education requirements for nursing professions in Indiana.
Licensed Practical Nurses
- Indiana Board of Nursing does not require continuing education for LPNs at this time.
Registered Nurses
- Indiana Board of Nursing does not require continuing education for RNs at this time.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
- APRNs with prescriptive authority are required to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years.
- 8 of the 30 contact hours must be on pharmacology
- For first time prescriptive authority renewal, only 4 contact hours in pharmacology are required
- 2 of the 30 contact hours must be on opioid prescribing and opioid abuse
