The Iowa Board of Nursing provides the following guidelines regarding the continuing education requirements for nursing professions in Iowa.
Licensed Practical Nurses

LPNs are required to complete 36 contact hours of continuing education every 3 years.

2 of the 36 contact hours must be on Identification and Reporting of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse if you regularly examine, attend, counsel, or treat children or dependent adults.

This Mandatory Reporter Course is offered by the Iowa Department of Human Services and can be found here.
Registered Nurses
