What are Kansas' State CE Requirements?
The Kansas Board of Nursing provides the following guidelines regarding the continuing education requirements for nursing professions in Kansas.

Licensed Practical Nurses
- LPNs are required to complete 36 contact hours of continuing education every 3 years. Nursing CE Central provides a comprehensive course bundle to meet these requirements and can be found here.
- 2 of the 36 contact hours must be on Identification and Reporting of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse if you regularly examine, attend, counsel, or treat children or dependent adults.
- The Iowa Department of Human Services offers this Mandatory Reporter Course, which can be found here.
Registered Nurses
- RNs are required to complete 36 contact hours of continuing education every 3 years. Nursing CE Central provides a comprehensive course bundle to meet these requirements and can be found here.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
- APRNs must maintain their certification and are required to complete 36 hours of Continuing Education every 3 years. Nursing CE Central provides a comprehensive course bundle to meet these requirements and can be found here.
- APRNs with prescriptive authority are required to complete 2 contact hours each renewal cycle on opioid prescribing. This course is provided by Nursing CE Central and can be taken here. Pediatric prescribers can take the Pediatric Pain Management course here.
- APRNs who supervise fluoroscopy procedures must complete annual training. This course is provided by Nursing CE Central and can be taken here.
- APRNs are required to complete a course on the Identification and Reporting of Child and Dependent Adult Abuse if they regularly examine, attend, counsel, or treat children or dependent adults.
