What are Nevada's State CE Requirements?

The Nevada Board of Nursing provides the following guidelines regarding the continuing education requirements for nursing professions in Nevada.

Licensed Practical Nurses

  • LPNs are required to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. Nursing CE Central offers the Nevada Renewal Bundle, which fulfills all of your renewal requirements.
    • 4 of the 30 contact hours must be a Nevada BON-approved cultural competency training. Nursing CE Central is an approved provider for this course, and it can be taken here.

Registered Nurses

  • RNs are required to complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. Nursing CE Central offers the Nevada Renewal Bundle, which fulfills all of your renewal requirements.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

  • APRNs are required to complete 45 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years. Nursing CE Central offers the Nevada APRN Bundle, which fulfills all of your renewal requirements.
    • 4 of the 45 contact hours must be a Nevada BON-approved cultural competency training. A list of approved providers can be found here..
    • 4 of the 45 contact hours must be on bioterrorism (one-time requirement). Nursing CE Central offers this course, and it can be taken here.
    • 15 of the 45 contact hours are to be on their specialty area
    • 2 of the 45 contact hours must be on Substance Misuse and Abuse. Nursing CE Central offers this course, and it can be taken here.
    • 2 of the 45 contact hours must be on the screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment approach to substance use disorder. Nursing CE Central offers this course, and it can be taken here.
    • 2 of the 45 contact hours must be on suicide prevention – required every 4 years (2 renewals). Nursing CE Central offers this course, and it can be taken here.
    • 2 of the contact hours must be on stigma, discrimination, and bias towards those with HIV. Nursing CE Central offers this course, and it can be taken here.
