What are West Virginia's State CE Requirements?

The West Virginia Board of Nursing provides the following guidelines regarding the continuing education requirements for nursing professions in West Virginia.

 

Licensed Practical Nurses

  • LPNs are required to complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years.

    • 2 of the 24 contact hours must be on mental health conditions common to veterans and their families

    • 3 of the 24 contact hours must be on substance abuse

    • 2 of the 24 contact hours must be on end-of-life care (one-time requirement)

 

Registered Nurses

  • RNs are required to complete 12 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years.

 

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

  • APRNs are required to complete 24 contact hours of continuing education every 2 years.

    • 12 of the 24 contact hours must be on pharmacotherapeutics

    • 12 of the 24 contact hours must be on clinical management Practice
